Gunmen kill at least ten people in eastern Nigerian village

Gunmen on motorcycles attacked the Binnari community in Karim-Lamido, located in the north-eastern state of Taraba in Nigeria, on Friday, 23 October 2026. Al Jazeera English and The Rio Times both reported that police confirmed ten bodies had been recovered by Friday evening. The assailants also looted food from local shops during the assault. Accounts differ on the total casualty count from the attack. While police confirmed ten fatalities, residents told The Rio Times that up to 26 people were killed. Survivors speaking to the AFP news agency reported at least 20 deaths, and the human rights group Amnesty International stated that 40 people died. [1][2]
