Brazilians head to the polls on Sunday to vote for their next president, BBC News reported. Voters are choosing between the current left-wing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the right-wing Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, according to BBC News. BBC News reported that Flávio Bolsonaro is the son of imprisoned former president Jair Bolsonaro. [1]
BBC News reported that Flávio Bolsonaro beat Lula in the first round of voting on 4 October by a narrow margin. General elections were held across Brazil on 4 October to elect the president, vice president, members of the National Congress, and state governors. [1][2]
As FTMQ World reported earlier, Lula's party planned to file a complaint against Meta with the Organisation of American States after accusing the firm of restricting online content before the runoff. Meta denied favoring Flávio Bolsonaro and stated that technical faults briefly shut down the account of Lula by mistake, as FTMQ World reported earlier. [4]
Brazil dominates the eastern coast of South America and hosts roughly 60 percent of the Amazon rainforest. The country has the largest economy in Latin America, relying heavily on agriculture, mining, and manufacturing. [3]
