Kenya has confirmed its third case of Ebola, according to France 24 and Al Jazeera. The patient is a 65-year-old woman who is a relative and primary contact of the first two cases reported in the country, Al Jazeera reported. [1][3]

The patient tested positive for the Bundibugyo strain of the virus and is currently held in quarantine, Al Jazeera reported. Authorities stated that there are currently no signs of community transmission, Al Jazeera noted. [3]

The latest case follows the death of the first patient, a man who had traveled from the Democratic Republic of Congo through Uganda before flying into Nairobi, Deutsche Welle and France 24 reported. A second patient, identified as a 39-year-old man and a relative of the first case, tested positive shortly afterward, according to AllAfrica News. As FTMQ World reported earlier, ten contacts had been placed in quarantine after the first case was confirmed. [1][2][4][11]

The cases in Kenya are linked to an ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has recorded more than 9,000 cases and 4,400 deaths, Deutsche Welle reported. The World Health Organization continues to assist Kenyan health officials in containing the spread of the virus, according to AllAfrica News. [2][4]
