The United States Department of Defense plans to broadcast the upcoming execution of Nidal Malik Hasan live to the public, BBC News and France 24 reported. United States Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the execution will be carried out by a firing squad composed of soldiers on 3 December 2026. [1][2]
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated that the Defence Secretary made the recommendation and President Donald Trump approved it, BBC News reported. BBC News noted that Hegseth confirmed the execution date, while the Secretary of the United States Army had stated earlier that the event is set to take place at Fort Hood in Texas. [1]
France 24 reported that Hasan was convicted for a 2009 attack at the military base that left 13 people dead and 32 injured. Hasan is a former United States Army major and psychiatrist who admitted to the mass shooting at his August 2013 court-martial. [2][9]
