Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Sunday that Ukraine, the United States, and Russia will hold a trilateral meeting in November. Euronews, LBC, and UNN all reported on the announcement, which aims to restart peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Euronews reported that the Russian invasion is now well into its fifth year. In an interview with Ukrainian television cited by Euronews, President Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to talk. He noted that territorial issues must be addressed at a leadership level, while other matters fall within the remit of technical groups. NST Online and UkrMedia News also reported that preparations for the November meetings are underway. [1][9][10]

Volodymyr Zelenskyy took office as the sixth president of Ukraine in 2019 and has served throughout the full scale Russian invasion that began in February 2022. As FTMQ World reported earlier, recent diplomatic efforts included a visit to Uzbekistan by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who urged Ukraine and Russia to focus on ending the conflict. [11][14]

In related regional developments, Al Jazeera English and Deutsche Welle World reported that voters in Bulgaria cast ballots in a presidential election influenced by divisions over the war in Ukraine. Deutsche Welle World reported that record low voter turnout triggered a run-off election scheduled for November 1. [4][5]
