King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was targeted on Saturday in a reported missile strike by Houthi forces from Yemen, according to a diplomatic source. Medical and diplomatic sources reported to AFP and Euronews that dozens of people were injured, mostly Saudi nationals, with at least five individuals receiving treatment in an intensive care unit. Saudi authorities have not officially confirmed a new attack or evacuations at the facility. [1][2][4][5][6][7]
The latest incident comes two days after three Saudi citizens were killed on Thursday in Houthi-claimed attacks on the same airport, Euronews reported. Middle East Eye reported that Kuwait Airways cancelled its flights to and from Riyadh due to the closure of the airport over the security situation. Embassies from Canada, Germany, and Spain warned their citizens in Saudi Arabia to avoid the area. [1][2]
As FTMQ World reported earlier, an attack on Saturday killed at least 12 people and injured 309 at the capital's international hub, which forced operations to be suspended. That strike was the third time the airport was targeted within a single week. [11]
The armed conflict between Saudi military forces and the Houthis has been ongoing since the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen began in 2015. Additionally, locations across Saudi Arabia have faced multiple retaliatory missile strikes since military action involving the United States, Israel, and Iran began in February 2026. [8][9]
