Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez launched his election campaign on 10 October in Dos Hermanas, Seville, ahead of the national vote on 29 November 2026. Euronews reported that more than 5,000 people gathered to hear the leader speak in the town. [1]
Euronews reported that Dos Hermanas is the largest city in Andalusia where the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party remains in power after the latest regional elections. Alejandro Moyano, deputy secretary for Organisation of the party in Andalusia, described the location as symbolic for the political group. [1]
Sánchez previously used the same town to launch his campaign for the party general secretariat in 2017, as well as his general election campaigns in 2019 and 2023. Euronews noted that housing served as a primary theme for his speech. [1]
As FTMQ World reported earlier, early national elections were triggered after widespread housing protests broke out across Spain. The demonstrations followed the 23 September eviction of 87-year-old pensioner Maricarmen Abascal from her Madrid home of 70 years, who died shortly after being removed. [2]
